Our murder mysteries are designed for 4 to 8 players. Depending on the case, you can play in different group sizes – the exact number of players is listed in each product description.

Our cases usually take between 2 and 4 hours, including food and short breaks. The exact duration naturally depends on how extensively you discuss the case and how much time you take for breaks and food.

Our cases are divided into several rounds, with time to eat in peace between them. That way the menu fits naturally into the flow of the evening. You can of course also eat while you play – entirely to your personal taste.

How does the variable number of players work, e.g. for 5 – 7 people?

Our murder mysteries are designed for a variable number of players. In the manual you will find sealed sections for the different group sizes. You simply open the section that matches your number of participants (e.g. 6 people). It tells you which roles you need to assign and which you can leave out. Please note that not all of our cases are suitable for 5 – 7 people; we also offer cases for other group sizes. You will find the exact number of players for each case on its product page.

From what age are your murder mysteries suitable?

Because of the amorous entanglements and the murder case to be solved, the content of our murder mysteries is not suitable for children. Participants should therefore be no younger than 16. There is no upper age limit.

Does the murderer know from the start that they are the culprit?

Accepted Answer

Yes. At the start of the murder mystery, all participants already know whether they are guilty or innocent, because in our cases only the culprit is allowed to lie. Of course, all the characters have dark secrets they would rather keep hidden.

Can the host investigate along with the guests?

Yes! The host can join the investigation just like everyone else. Before the murder mystery begins, they also pick a role for themselves. The preparation does not reveal who the culprit is.

Can female roles be played by men and vice versa?

Yes. All roles in our murder mysteries can be cast regardless of gender. You do not have to match the gender of the characters.

Do I have to dress up for the murder mystery?

No, of course you don’t have to dress up. But maybe you have a brilliant idea for an outfit that suits your character. It not only helps you get into the role – above all, it’s great fun.

Can you play a murder mystery more than once?

No. As with a TV crime drama, the story is known once the murder mystery is over. Murder mysteries are a one-off event. But the fun of Culinario Mortale lies not only in hunting for the murderer – it’s also about celebrating a dinner party with costumes and spending quality time with friends.

Please read through the manual at your leisure. It is short and easy to understand and contains everything you need to know. If you haven’t decided on a case yet, you can read up on our website. With the help of the manual you can assign the roles in advance – either in person or conveniently by email. After that, all that’s left are the fun bits: the decoration and something delicious to eat.

As the host, do I find out during the preparation who the culprit is?

No. You learn no secret information while organising the murder mystery and you don’t know who the culprit is either. The same rules apply to you as to everyone else. Since you pick one of the roles for yourself, you might even end up playing the culprit.
